About the Park
Major General George Owen Squier, 1865-1934, built a park on his Dryden estate after World War I. His "Country Club for Country People" was donated to the County of Lapeer after his death.
In 1977, General Squier Memorial Park was named a Michigan Historic Site. With the support of the Michigan Secretary of State's History Division and the Lapeer County Board of Commissioners, the park's buildings were renovated and many improvements were made.
In 1985 the park was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The 80 acre park is administered by the Lapeer County Parks Department.
